It’s raining stars!!!

There is only one word to describe today’s race: CHAOS!!!

The first action was a jump start from Alonso. Seb had some problems with the clutch at start and got overtaken by Alonso and Webber. Later on the first lap, Liuzzi spun and crashed into Buemi and Kobayashi.

All drivers except De La Rosa started the race on slicks even if it started already before the start slightly to rain. But then came in lap 2 due to the Liuzzi crash the Safety Car out and a pitstop-marathon began. Almost everyone came in to change on inters. But some, as the race winner Button and the 3rd Nico Rosberg stayed on slicks, which seemed first very mad but at latest when the other drivers had to come in again to change back on dry tyres those who stayed on slicks where the big winners. Well the biggest looser of the first pitstop row was: Seb. RBR let him pit together with his teammate Macca but the last had a problem at his pitstop and so Seb had to wait and lost much time.

Another very interesting pitstop story was when Seb and Hamilton where fighting: Seb wos ahead and drove in the pitlane but ham came at the pitlane entry and cut Seb. Then Seb was again ahead of him in the pitlane but Hamilton attacked Seb in the pitlane. In my opinion Hamilton shud have got a penalty for unsafe release for this but the result of an investigation after the race is: a verbal warning for both…

And we saw this race a thing we never could see before:  wheel to wheel duell between Seb and Schumi and guess who won??? Seb for sure!!

Well later the rain became heavier and everyone changed on inters. I don’t know how Lewis Hamilton managed to go on 3rd… and Alonso, who got a drivethrough due to his jump start, on 4th…

In fact this was an very interesting, thrilling and chaotic pitstop-race. After the first race at Bahrain everyone said that there were not enugh pitstops; if anyone says this after this race he absolutely lost it as the highest pitstop rate is 6 by Alguersuari and Hülkenberg.

At the end i want to explain you the title of this post: It’s raining stars. Well the raining is i hink quite easy to understand as the race was hit by rain xD. And the part with the stars: the 3 drivers on the podium are all powered by a Mercedes engine and as u all know the trademark of the german company is a star 😛

Pole No4 For the Red Bulls.

Race No4 and the Red Bulls lock out for the 3rd time in the row.

But this time it was Sebastian Vettel leading from Mark Webber by just a margin of 0.248 seconds and both led Fernando Alonso by 0.335 seconds. Now we saw the McLarens of Hamilton and current champion Jenson Button initially set the pace at the start of the weekend ; but that eventually deteoriated under the tension of the final qualifying session. They both qualified 5th and 6th on the grid respectively and both admitted that they were fairly disappointed at the result.

“The car started bottoming a lot in Q3, I really don’t know what was wrong. I couldn’t get any more time out of it; that was me on the limit.”said Lewis Hamilton.

Current championship leader Felipe Massa will start 7th while the Renault drivers seemed to be the opposite of each other. Kubica continued his form and qualified a reasonable 8th while Russian Petrov qualified a respectable 14th. The shock of the day , came in the shape of Vitantonio Luizzi who was knocked out in the first of the 3 sessions after what seemed to be a promising start for the Force India.Michael Schumacher, once again was out-qualified by his team-mate Nico Rosberg by qualifying 9th and Rosberg on 4th.

The casualities of the 1st sesion, included the usual new teams and their drivers with Glock leading the way for the newbies. While, Bmw-Sauber-Ferrari… well they continued on with their season as bad as they had for the last 3 races.  Michael Schumacher, also had a close call not even making it into the last session as his old teammate Rubens Barrichello made a desperate scramble to get into the final session but to no avail.

On his drivers’ success Christian Horner had to say this “I have no idea where Sebastian produced that last lap from, it was quite phenomenal. Mark was in great shape throughout qualifying today and got pipped right at the end there. So, both cars at the front of the grid again for another Red Bull one two. I’m looking forward to tomorrow’s race.” ”

And Vettel said “The second run was better – it was a fantastic lap. We got a fourth consecutive pole position for Red Bull. We’re proving that we have a very good car, no matter what the circuit. I’m very pleased with today. Thanks to the mechanics, as they had zero lunch due to all the changes that were required between free practice and qualifying.”

So, it was a close call in qualifying but the Red Bulls proved why they are the team to be feared. Can Red Bull translate this 1-2 start to an 1-2 finish? We’ll see tomorrow 🙂

Pole lap Sebastian Vettel Shangai 2010

Sebastian Vettel : King of Malaysia

HALLELUJAH!

RELIABILITY : CHECK

SPEED:CHECK

DRIVER CONSISTENCY : HELL YEAH

I sighed a breath of relief when 22 year old Seb Vettel won this race ; I’m sure that millions of fans did too. I am delighted to write this blog as a girl who is absolutely chuffed 🙂 . It all started with, Mark Webber perhaps underestimating the people behind him. Unfortunately on this occasion it was: Sebastian Vettel! Seb must have Mark Webber regret that move and perhaps even angry at himself ! While Vettel took the lead at the front, at the back the battle had begun with 3 world champions and the very fast Massa made their moves and tried all they can. But while they made their moves ; the day got worse for Sauber as Kamui Kobayashi had more problems after his dreadful weekend at Melbourne, Malaysia.Michael Schumacher had more woes today than just his team-mate performing better than him : His wheel nut came lose and he ended up on a scooter going back inside .. Is it a mistake to come back ? Well, I don’t know because it is only 3 races in 😀 Lewis Hamilton was his usual himself and climbed up a significant amount of places to end up 6th while his team-mate got 8th place respectively

The person who probably is annoyed at this is Fernando Alonso who stopped 1 lap before the end 🙂 and  this also led him to losing the lead of the championhip and his team-mate Massa took the lead with 39 points… with both Alonso and Vettel in a lockdown 37 points

So what can i say : FANTASTICO!!!! AND HE DID IT GUYS!!! 😀

So normal service resumes next week with Jenny on the race and Me on the qualifying!

So till next week… Bye bye !

Rain!

What a quali! When there is one word to describe it then it’s defo: rain! During the whole quail, no driver cud drive a lap with slicks, it was all a gamble between inters and heavy wets! In Q1 was the big surprise: both Ferraris and Hamilton were knocked out!!!! And Butoon spun but got in the top17 but wasn’t allowed to drive in Q2. So after 20 minutes, 2 top teams were eliminated xD The other drivers who didn’t manage to drive in the top 17 were: Trulli P18, Chandhok P22, Senna P23 and Di Grassi P24. Q2 was again wet and surprise: 2 drivers from the new teams got it into the second quali part!!! Heikki Kovalainen put his Lotus on 15th and Glock his Virgin on 16th position! The 2 places before them, so P13 and P14 were taken by the two Toro Rossos. The last Knockout places took Petov and De la Rosa. Then came Q3 !! Due to the fact that ,4 normally in the top 10 predicted cars didn’t managed Q1, there were some surprises as Kobayashi and both Williams managed it into Q3. With still 7:17 to go, Charlie Whiting decided to put the red flags out because there was to much rain! Well any driver had set a time yet and no one knew what would happen if they wouldn’t restart the Quali. But all those thoughts were unimportant because at 17:10 local time the session got underway again! The most drivers went out on heavy wets, which seemed logical, but then Mister Webber went out on Intermediate tyres and drove an incredible lap after the other and got his pole with an huge lap! And now, no one can say any more that Germany isn’t the rain nation: from the 6 German drivers, 5 got in top 10 and 4 (!) in the top 5!!! And who would have thought that in the top 10 the worst German was Michael Schumacher???? The best german was his teammate Nico Rosberg on P2 and then come Sebii Vettel, Adrian Sutil and Nico Hülkenberg on P3 to 5 xD In fact it we had long time not such a thrilling quali! As we told you last week, today me, Jenny, wrote the post and Banu will write tomorrow because I go on ski-holidays in a few hours! I hope you enjoyed the post and I think we will see tomorrow another thrilling race with hopefully Seb on P1 xD The weather predictions for tomorrow are the same as for today : rain! I only hope that the race won’t end as last year’s did! So cu again next Sunday!!! Jenny Bye xoxo
